Imperial Museum will operate normally during Carnival after schedule review in Petrópolis
The Imperial Museum in Petrópolis will remain open during Carnival following a review of the event schedule surrounding the Imperial Palace.
The Imperial Museum in Petrópolis, Brazil, has announced that it will operate normally during the Carnival period after reassessing the official celebration schedule nearby the Imperial Palace. This decision came after the local Tourism Secretariat and the Municipal Culture Institute issued a letter establishing new parameters for the festivities in the area, allowing the museum to remain open to the public.
Initially, the museum had planned to implement safety protocols outlined in its Risk Management Plan due to anticipated large crowds around the museum area. This plan, which was established about ten years ago, includes closing the Palace and gardens during times of high gatherings to protect the historical and scenic heritage. Concerns about crowd density prompted the museum to consider these protocols seriously.
However, with the modifications to the event dynamics set by the municipality, the museum's management has determined that the new festival arrangements will not affect its operations or pose any risks to the integrity of its facilities or collections. As a result, visitors can expect access to the museum as usual during one of Brazil's most celebrated cultural occasions.
