On Wednesday, a man was arrested in Pedra Azul, Brazil, for kidnapping and firing a weapon after he took a mototaxi driver hostage using a revolver. According to the Minas Gerais Civil Police (PCMG), they responded to reports of an armed individual inside a local grocery store. Upon arrival, law enforcement discovered the suspect holding a revolver and using the driver as a human shield.
The situation escalated when the suspect moved with the driver to another grocery store just 30 meters away, continuing to threaten the driver with the firearm. Witnesses described the tense scene where the suspect locked the driver in a bathroom for approximately ten minutes, during which he pointed the gun towards the ceiling and walls, irrationally claiming the presence of enemies.
Ultimately, the police intervened successfully to resolve the situation without further harm.
