Suspect of robbing a taxi driver arrested in Três Rios

A 30-year-old man was arrested on Friday morning in Três Rios, Rio de Janeiro, for his suspected involvement in a taxi driver robbery that took place on January 27. The robbery occurred in Paraíba do Sul when two men posed as passengers, during which one of them threatened the taxi driver with a .38 caliber revolver and forced him to drive to Três Rios. The assailants stole approximately R$ 400 and the driver's cellphone before fleeing the scene.

The police reported that the taxi driver managed to escape during a moment of distraction from the criminals while traveling on the BR-393. The assailants then abandoned the taxi and fled on foot. Investigations were launched which included analyzing surveillance footage to identify the suspects. The arrested man was pinpointed as a suspect through this footage, indicating that police efforts to trace the crime were focused and effective.

The suspect was also noted to have previously tried to evade apprehension during a police chase on January 31, underscoring his active engagement in criminal behavior.
