Carnival is expected to increase the number of trips at the Nova Rodoviária of São José by 30%

The Nova Rodoviária in São José dos Campos is anticipating a 30% increase in passenger numbers during the Carnival period, with around 4,000 daily departures expected.

The intermunicipal bus terminal in São José dos Campos, the largest in the region, is bracing for a significant influx of travelers during the upcoming Carnival, expecting a 30% increase in passenger volume. Between this Friday (13) and next Wednesday (18), approximately 4,000 departures and the circulation of about 13,000 people are anticipated daily at the Frederico Ozanam terminal, situated on Itororó Street in Jardim Piratininga.

According to the city hall, this surge in activity represents a notable rise from the typical daily average, where around 3,000 passengers usually embark and about 10,000 people circulate within the terminal. Popular travel destinations include the North Coast, southern Minas Gerais, as well as the capital city of São Paulo, alongside cities like Rio de Janeiro and Salvador. To accommodate this increase in demand, several bus lines have arranged additional services.

The terminal management advises travelers to arrive at least 30 minutes ahead of their departure times to ensure a smooth journey, as the increased movement could lead to longer wait times and congestion. This increase in travel during Carnival highlights the cultural significance of the holiday in Brazil, as many people take part in the celebrations by traveling to different regions for festivities.
