Carnival 2026: Viracopos and Campinas Bus Station are expected to receive 285,000 passengers; see main destinations

Viracopos Airport and the Campinas bus station are preparing for a busy Carnival period, expecting to handle 285,000 passengers heading to various popular destinations.

Viracopos International Airport is anticipating a surge in passenger traffic during the Carnival holiday, expecting to welcome around 187,000 travelers. From Friday, February 13, to Wednesday, February 18, the airport is expecting 1,675 takeoffs and landings, with peak traffic projected on Friday, including around 33,600 passengers, and the following Wednesday, with a return of 32,800 passengers. The increased activity highlights the importance of this holiday for regional transportation.

The most sought-after destinations during this period include various capitals from the North, Central-West, and Northeast regions of Brazil, as well as popular cities like Rio de Janeiro, Belo Horizonte, Porto Alegre, Florianópolis, Curitiba, and Vitória. This diverse selection underscores the significance of Carnival as a time when many Brazilians travel to enjoy the festivities across different parts of the country.

In addition to domestic flights, there will also be international travel, with 166 international flights scheduled, expected to carry about 16,200 passengers. This aspect of the airport's operations indicates that interest in traveling abroad during Carnival is also on the rise, further bolstering travel infrastructure and services in anticipation of large numbers of passengers.
