Green transition investments exceeded 8 billion last year
In Finland, investments worth over 8 billion euros were completed last year in support of the green transition, marking a record level according to the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment (EK).
In Finland, the green transition gained significant traction last year, with investments exceeding 8 billion euros, a record set by the Economic Affairs and Employment (EK). The data highlights the importance of green transition projects as substantial contributors to the country’s economy. Approximately 24 billion euros worth of new projects were initiated, which speaks volumes about Finland's commitment to sustainable development. Currently, over 1,250 investment projects related to the green transition are in the pipeline, amounting to a total value of over 300 billion euros.
The types of investments noted include significant developments in land-based wind power, data center investments, as well as large-scale industrial projects, as stated by EK's leading expert Janne Peljo. Despite the success of the previous year, there are indications that this year's investment pace may not match last year's record. Current projections estimate that around 5.3 billion euros of green transition projects will be completed this year, with over 7 billion expected to be ready next year, while the industry prepares to bring larger biogas projects online.
Through these investments, Finland demonstrates its commitment to achieving its climate goals and transitioning to a greener economy. The economic implications are considerable, serving as both a response to global environmental challenges and as support for local job creation and industry growth, positioning Finland as a leader in sustainable economic practices.
