A 400 Euro Bribe Entrapped the Pharmacy Director in Klaipėda
A pharmacy director in Klaipėda has been let off from criminal charges after offering a bribe of 400 euros to avoid penalties during an inspection.
The Klaipėda District Court has upheld the prosecutor's decision to relieve the director of a Klaipėda pharmacy from criminal liability related to bribery after having completely acknowledged his guilt and expressing remorse for the crime committed. The court has set a one-year probation term for the individual and imposed a penalty of 2,500 euros to be paid into the fund for victims of crimes. This decision arises from an incident where, during a surprise inspection by the State Medicines Control Service, the pharmacy director attempted to offer 400 euros as a bribe to ensure that no new violations would be recorded and that previously identified issues would be recognized as resolved without risking the pharmacy's license being suspended.
