Childcare services keep weekday rates during the Seollal holiday, support services for victims of violence also operate normally

During the Seollal holiday, crisis counseling services for youth, victims of violence, and multicultural families will continue to operate normally, with childcare services maintaining weekday pricing.

The Ministry of Gender Equality and Family announced that essential services for the public will function normally throughout the Seollal holiday. For families with children under the age of 12, the childcare service will apply weekday rates instead of holiday rates, which typically incur a 50% surcharge. This decision is aimed at alleviating childcare burdens for working parents during the holiday period, allowing them to apply for care services through the dedicated website after making the required payment.

Additionally, facilities supporting victims of violence will also remain operational 24 hours during the holiday period. The Women’s Emergency Hotline 1366 will provide initial counseling and emergency protection for victims, as well as connect them to shelters and support centers. This hotline works in collaboration with the Sunflower Center to deliver comprehensive services covering counseling, medical assistance, legal support, and investigations for various types of victims including those suffering from sexual violence, domestic violence, and human trafficking.

Youth shelters across the country will continue to offer support for at-risk youth, providing essential services such as counseling, shelter, and medical care. Other support hotlines, including the Family Counseling Hotline and the Danuri Call Center for multicultural families, will also operate as usual, offering assistance in multiple languages. These resources are vital for addressing various family-related issues and providing emergency support for families in crisis, especially given the heightened vulnerabilities some groups face during holiday periods.
