Experts to push safety design at NITP lecture
Experts will gather in Abeokuta to discuss how engineering and planning can enhance national security during the 12th Waheed Kadiri Lecture Series.
On February 17, experts from both public and private sectors will convene in Abeokuta, Ogun State, to address national security through engineering and planning. The event, part of the 12th Waheed Kadiri Lecture Series organized by the Nigerian Institute of Town Planners, will focus on the theme 'Designing a Safer Nigeria: Engineering, Planning and the Fight against Insecurity'. This lecture aims to explore innovative solutions that can be implemented to improve safety and reduce insecurity in the country.
Professor Jeremiah Ojediran, Vice Chancellor of Bells University of Technology and a distinguished member of engineering societies, will serve as the keynote speaker. His expertise is expected to enrich the discussions with practical insights into how academic principles can be applied in real-world scenarios. The event will take place at the Ogun Pensioners Hall at 11am, drawing attention to the ongoing efforts to integrate design and engineering into security enhancements.
The lecture series highlights the importance of collaboration between various stakeholders, including government officials, engineers, and planners, in addressing the challenges of insecurity in Nigeria. By linking academic research with practical applications, the event aims to propose actionable strategies that can lead to a safer nation. This discourse is not only timely but essential as Nigeria grapples with ongoing security challenges, emphasizing the critical role of design in fostering national resilience and safety.
