With poor air quality, the Hoy No Circula for February 12 operates normally in CDMX and Edomex
In response to poor air quality, the Hoy No Circula program is set to operate normally in Mexico City despite ongoing concerns.
Mexico City has been on the verge of implementing a Doble Hoy No Circula due to reported poor air quality levels, specifically high ozone particle presence. As of February 11, environmental authorities indicated very poor air quality but have not confirmed a double-day restriction for February 12, allowing the existing Hoy No Circula program to proceed as planned.
For commuters, there are additional considerations as work on Line 2 of the Mexico City Metro will affect service, prompting the provision of RTP buses to facilitate transit for affected stations. Furthermore, for drivers in the State of Mexico, the situation has worsened with a rise in driving license fees, which could deter car usage amidst the restrictions intended to alleviate air quality issues.
In the area encompassing the 16 boroughs of Mexico City and the adjacent 18 municipalities in the State of Mexico, non-compliance with Hoy No Circula regulations can result in penalties. The vehicular restrictions apply from 5:00 AM until 10:00 PM, emphasizing the city's ongoing struggles with managing traffic and air pollution despite current allowances in the restrictions.
