A 28-year-old man was successfully rescued after spending three days lost in the Amazon rainforest near Serra Morena, Juína, located 737 km from Cuiabá. He was discovered resting on a large rock, but details regarding how he got lost remain unclear. The search for him began after the firefighters were alerted to his disappearance on Monday, March 9. In an impressive cooperation effort, a member of the Cinta Larga indigenous community assisted in locating him, although heavy rains hindered immediate rescue efforts on the first day.

On March 10, air support was utilized. A helicopter dropped survival kits containing food, water, and heating items for the young man while the search and rescue teams prepared for extraction. Thanks to improved weather conditions later that day, security forces, including four military firefighters and eight operators from Ciopaer, were able to successfully rappel down and lift him to safety from the rocky outcrop where he had sought refuge. This operation involved a total of 12 personnel working around the clock for nearly 48 hours to ensure his safe return.

The successful rescue highlights the importance of collaboration between local authorities, indigenous knowledge, and modern rescue operations in navigating challenging terrains like the Amazon rainforest. The young man is reportedly in good health following his ordeal, underscoring the effectiveness of the response efforts.
