A 93-year-old man, known as Manoel Sousa or "Tranquilo," was discovered alive after being missing for five days in a dense forest area in Novo Progresso, southwestern Pará. He fell about 15 meters into a ravine and managed to survive during this period by drinking rainwater. His survival was a remarkable feat, given the harsh conditions of the forest, which posed great risks to his health and safety.

The rescue operation was coordinated by the 33rd Military Firefighters Group, who faced challenges due to the rugged terrain and dense vegetation surrounding the missing person. Major Rubem Navegantes, who led the operation, detailed how the rescue team found him sitting in a ravine, dehydrated and disoriented, but thankfully still alive. When they spotted him, he was drinking water, likely from rain or a small stream nearby.
