Going by car to the carnival? Find out where there is free parking and taxi and rideshare points in Recife
Recife will offer over 1,200 free parking spaces for carnival-goers, along with designated taxi and rideshare pick-up points near key festivities.
During the carnival season, the Bairro do Recife will provide at least 1,200 free parking spaces for attendees who plan to drive to the festivities. These spaces are conveniently located at municipal government buildings, including the city hall, and nearby regional labor and federal courts, which are just a short walk from the main celebration areas such as Marco Zero and Praça do Arsenal. This initiative aims to facilitate access to the carnival for those who prefer driving, thus promoting safety and convenience during this bustling period.
Additionally, there will be fixed points established for the boarding and disembarking of passengers arriving via taxi or rideshare services. The service starts on Thursday, February 12, coinciding with the commencement of the carnival in the city. For drivers who park at the city hall, a complimentary shuttle van service will transport them to the Rua do Observatório, approximately 1.1 kilometers from the parking facility. This service is designed to enhance the mobility of carnival attendees and reduce congestion in the surrounding areas.
The municipal administration emphasizes that access to these parking facilities and shuttle services will be free; however, personnel from the Secretary of Social Assistance and Fight Against Hunger (SAS) will be present to assist attendees and ensure a smooth experience for all festival-goers. This proactive approach is part of the city's broader strategy to manage the influx of visitors during the carnival, making it easier for residents and tourists to enjoy the vibrant cultural event without the stress of parking and transportation logistics.
