Detonation of rocks in Serra das Araras will be suspended during Carnival
Rock detonations in Serra das Araras will be paused during the Carnival period to ensure traffic safety and fluency.
The detonation of rocks in the Serra das Araras, located along the Via Dutra in Brazil, will be suspended for the duration of the Carnival festivities, as announced by the managing concessionaire of the highway. This decision is made to enhance traffic safety and maintain the smooth flow of vehicles, particularly for the heavy travel period that Carnival entails, from Friday, February 13 to Wednesday, February 18. It is emphasized that while the detonation activities are on hold, there will be no changes to traffic in the opposite direction of the highway.
The concessionaire has made it clear that the rock blasting operations will resume on Thursday, February 19, following the cessation during Carnival. Additionally, the schedule for the subsequent week is set to return to normal operations, with specific blasting times outlined: Monday to Thursday from 1 PM to 3 PM and on Saturday from 4 PM to 6 PM. This advance notice aims to prepare drivers for the schedule adjustment and to minimize any inconvenience during the highly trafficked Carnival period.
This temporary suspension of rock blasting activities reflects the understanding of the importance of the Carnival season in Brazil, marked by significant movement and gatherings. With safety as a priority, the measures taken ensure that the highway remains operational for the festive period, allowing travelers to enjoy their events without unexpected disruptions caused by road work.
