Approved at USP, Unicamp, and Unesp through the Provão Paulista are entitled to assistance; know the criteria

Candidates approved at USP, Unicamp, and Unesp via Provão Paulista are eligible for a government-funded assistance grant aimed at economically vulnerable students.

Candidates who successfully gained admission to the Universidade de São Paulo (USP), Universidade Estadual Paulista (Unesp), and Universidade Estadual de Campinas (Unicamp) through the Provão Paulista examination are now entitled to a monthly financial aid named the "bolsa permanência." This initiative is specifically targeted at undergraduates from socioeconomically vulnerable backgrounds. The funds for these grants are provided by the Government of São Paulo and are transferred to the participating institutions.

Eligibility for this assistance is limited to those who passed the Provão Paulista and were educated in the state public school system. To qualify, applicants must have a family income per capita of no more than one and a half minimum wages, translating to approximately R$ 2,431.50. Importantly, candidates who attended technical schools (Etecs), municipal networks, and federal institutes are not eligible for this aid. Those students must apply for other forms of assistance offered by the universities themselves.

According to the agreement established between the Education Secretariat and USP, there are 450 available scholarships that can potentially support these students. This assistance underscores the efforts of the São Paulo government to promote inclusivity in higher education by providing financial support to those who may face barriers due to their economic circumstances, thus enhancing access to educational opportunities for disadvantaged youths in the region.
