TikTok Block and Agrada Gregos Want to Celebrate LGBTQIA+ Existence, Says Host
The Agrada Gregos block at Carnaval in São Paulo aims to celebrate LGBTQIA+ existence, featuring performances and a vibrant atmosphere.
The Agrada Gregos bloc, in collaboration with TikTok for the third time, is set to celebrate the LGBTQIA+ community during São Paulo's Carnaval. This event promises to bring together a diverse crowd filled with music, joy, and inclusivity. It will be led by Drag Queen Sheyla Cristina, a popular comedian and TikTok influencer with a substantial following, ensuring a festive atmosphere that resonates with the community's roots and cultural significance.
The event will showcase prominent figures in the Brazilian LGBTQIA+ music scene, including singers Glória Groove and Traemme, alongside the popular internet personality Gretchen. Scheduled for Saturday, February 14, the parade will take place at Ibirapuera Park, starting at 1 PM, with festivities expected to occur between the Obelisco and the Monumento às Bandeiras. This block not only promises entertainment but also serves as a platform for representation and visibility for the LGBTQIA+ community.
Designed by Fábio Marxx, who started the project during the pandemic, Sheyla Cristina uses humor as a medium to critique social issues while celebrating cultural identity, focusing on the working class. By blending humor with activism, the Agrada Gregos block aims to engage the public in a dialogue about societal values, ensuring that Carnaval is not just a celebration but a movement toward recognition and equality for the LGBTQIA+ community in Brazil.
