Two people die in accident between motorcycle and school bus in Teresina

A motorcycle accident involving a school bus in rural Teresina resulted in the deaths of two individuals.

On Tuesday afternoon, a tragic accident occurred in the Povoado Santa Teresa area of Teresina, Brazil, involving a motorcycle and a school bus. The victims, identified as a man and a woman, were riding the motorcycle when it collided head-on with the bus, leading to their immediate deaths at the scene. The woman has been named as Janaina Eline Rios Costa, while the motorcycle rider's identity has yet to be confirmed by authorities. Fortunately, the bus driver was unharmed and tested negative for alcohol consumption.

The incident took place around 5:20 PM on Avenida Aluísio Sampaio, where, according to the State Highway Police Battalion (BPRE), the motorcycle rider veered into oncoming traffic while negotiating a curve, resulting in the fatal crash. Emergency services responded promptly, and the area was cordoned off for the investigation as the police carried out forensic work. Following the investigation, the roadway was reopened, and the bodies were transported by the Institute of Legal Medicine (IML).

This accident raises concerns about traffic safety in rural areas, particularly regarding the behavior of motorcycle riders on public roads.
