Car crashes into public transport bus in Teresina
A car collided with a public transport bus in Teresina, Brazil, after allegedly ignoring a right-of-way, though there were no reported injuries.
On Wednesday, the 18th, a public transport bus in Teresina was involved in a collision with a car on Rua Magalhães Filho in the Marquês neighborhood, located in the northern zone of the city. Fortunately, there were no reports of injuries following the incident. The local transportation authority, Superintendência Municipal de Transportes e Trânsito (Strans), stated that the car had failed to yield the right-of-way to the bus during the accident.
Witnesses captured a video of the crash, depicting the car with two tires on the sidewalk and significant damage to its side, while the front of the bus also sustained damage. The incident raises concerns about traffic safety in the area, particularly regarding adherence to right-of-way rules during busy traffic times.
In response to this situation, Strans announced that the location is already marked with signage and that an engineering team will be conducting a technical analysis to enhance the visibility and effectiveness of the signage at the intersection. This proactive measure aims to prevent similar accidents from occurring in the future as the authorities seek to improve road safety for both drivers and pedestrians in Teresina.
