Representatives from Codec and local authorities visited the site designated for the future Industrial District of Santarém to assess its potential for sustainable economic development.
Representatives from the Companhia de Desenvolvimento Econômico do Pará (Codec), the municipal government of Santarém, and local industry leaders recently conducted a technical visit to the designated area for the future Industrial District of Santarém, located in the western region of Pará, Brazil. This visit, held on October 10th, was part of strategic actions aimed at studying and planning the project, which is intended to facilitate economic development in the region.
The agenda for the visit involved technical teams from Codec and the State Secretariat for the Environment and Sustainability (Semas), along with representatives from the Santarém city government and local business sectors. This collaborative effort exemplifies the alignment among state, municipal, and private sector entities to implement a project that focuses on sustainable economic growth. The visit highlighted the commitment of these stakeholders to ensure that the Industrial District is both economically viable and environmentally responsible.
During the visit, the main goal was to gain a detailed understanding of the area's physical, environmental, and territorial characteristics. The fieldwork conducted allowed the teams to better assess the site’s potential and define the necessary steps for the implementation of the district. This project is anticipated to have significant implications for the local economy, aiming to provide job opportunities and foster sustainable development, thereby improving the overall quality of life for residents in Santarém and surrounding areas.
