The Indian Air Force (IAF) will hold its largest firepower demonstration exercise, 'Vayu Shakti 2026', on February 27 at the Pokhran firing range in Rajasthan. This operation marks a significant event following Operation Sindoor and is designed to showcase the IAF's capabilities in day, evening, and nighttime operations. Over 2.5 hours, the exercise aims to utilize more than 277 weapons and 12,000 kilograms of explosives, delivering a strong message about zero tolerance towards terrorism and highlighting the air force's preparedness.

Vice Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Nagesh Kapoor, emphasized that this exercise is an opportunity for the IAF to demonstrate its capacity to win future wars, preventative deterrence, and superiority in long-range targeting. The venue for the demonstration, the Pokhran range, is strategically located near the Pakistan border in Jaisalmer, making it a critical area for showcasing India's military readiness. The event will illustrate the technological advancements in combat aircraft, helicopters, and missile systems, reaffirming the strength and resolve of the Indian armed forces.

In addition to military demonstrations, the exercise is meant to reinforce India's defensive posture amid regional tensions, especially concerning threats from terrorism and hostile nations. Having 77 fighter jets and 43 helicopters involved demonstrates a significant level of coordination and strength within the IAF, positioning it as a formidable force capable of responding to various security challenges the nation faces today.
