Indian Air Force is making big preparations for the war in Iran... fighter jets from several countries will fly together
The Indian Air Force is preparing for its largest multinational air exercise, 'Tarang Shakti 2.0', set to take place at the end of this year in Jodhpur, Rajasthan, involving fighter jets from multiple friendly nations.
The Indian Air Force (IAF) has begun preparations for its most significant multinational air exercise, 'Tarang Shakti 2.0', scheduled to occur in late September to October 2026 in Jodhpur, Rajasthan, close to India’s western border. This extensive exercise aims to bring together fighter jets from several friendly nations to engage in complex aerial warfare drills alongside the IAF. By hosting such a large-scale event, India is demonstrating its commitment to strengthening international defense ties and enhancing cooperative military capabilities in the region.
'Tarang Shakti 2.0' follows the inaugural iteration of the exercise, which took place in 2024 in two phases. The first phase was conducted from August 6 to 14 at the Sulur Air Force Station in Tamil Nadu, featuring the participation of various European air forces, including the French Rafale and Eurofighter Typhoons from Germany, Spain, and the UK. The second phase took place from August 29 to September 14 in Jodhpur, featuring fighter jets such as Australia’s EA-18G Growler, Greece and UAE’s F-16s, and the USA’s A-10 Thunderbolt II.
This upcoming exercise reflects not just military preparedness but also a strategic alignment among nations concerned about regional security, particularly amidst ongoing tensions involving Iran. By collaborating with other air forces, the Indian Air Force seeks to improve interoperability and readiness in emergency situations, which could enhance security cooperation in the Indian Ocean region and beyond.
