VG: Økokrim investigates Epstein covering home care for Rød-Larsen
Økokrim is investigating allegations that Jeffrey Epstein covered home care expenses for Norwegian diplomat Terje Rød-Larsen.
Norwegian news outlet VG reported that Økokrim, the National Authority for Investigation and Prosecution of Economic and Environmental Crime, is probing allegations that Jeffrey Epstein paid for home care services for Terje Rød-Larsen, a prominent Norwegian diplomat. Documents related to Epstein reveal that some of Rød-Larsen’s bills for home assistance were sent to Epstein, although it remains unclear how these bills from 2018 were settled.
John Christian Elden, Rød-Larsen’s lawyer, stated that the investigation focuses on the coverage of care expenses. He contends that they believe none of the matters under investigation indicate any wrongdoing on Rød-Larsen's part. Elden expressed confidence that the inquiry will likely lead to a dismissal of any charges once thoroughly investigated, emphasizing the lack of evidence suggesting any illegal activity.
This investigation underscores the ongoing scrutiny surrounding Epstein's connections to various individuals across the globe, including influential figures such as Rød-Larsen. It raises questions about the implications of financial transactions involving Epstein and how they may intersect with legal and ethical standards in Norway and internationally. As the probe unfolds, it will be pivotal to monitor how it affects Rød-Larsen's reputation and any legal ramifications that may arise from the findings of Økokrim.
