Learn about the new members of the Egyptian government after the cabinet reshuffle
The Egyptian parliament has approved a cabinet reshuffle proposed by President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, introducing several new ministers and changing the organizational structure of key ministries.
The Egyptian parliament has recently sanctioned a cabinet reshuffle initiated by President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, which includes the introduction of new members to the government. This reshuffle primarily focuses on service-related ministries, with significant changes in the areas of investments, planning, housing, industry, and communications. Notably, a new Deputy Prime Minister position for economic development has been established, reflecting the administration's emphasis on economic issues as a priority in the government's agenda.
In addition to the strategic roles filled, the reshuffle witnessed the revival of the Ministry of Information, which will be led by Diaa Rashwan, the current head of the General Authority for Information. There were also important structural changes, including the separation of the Ministry of Transport from the Ministry of Industry, which were previously combined. Kamel El-Wazir will maintain his role as Transport Minister, while Khaled Maher will take over the newly separate Ministry of Industry. Similarly, the Ministry of Planning has been decoupled from International Cooperation, with Minister Rania Al-Mashat now solely focused on international partnerships.
However, it is essential to note that this reshuffle did not include crucial ministries such as Foreign Affairs, Finance, Defense, Interior, Petroleum, and Health, indicating a selective approach to the changes without disrupting the core functions of the government. The new ministers are set to officially take their oaths in a ceremony on Wednesday, reflecting the ongoing political and administrative adjustments within the Egyptian government to address pressing national issues and reforms.
