Announcement of a call to choose the technical secretary of the National Anti-Corruption System
The Citizen Participation Committee of Mexico's National Anti-Corruption System has announced a new call for the selection of a technical secretary to fill the vacant position since February 2025.
The Citizen Participation Committee (CPC) within Mexico's National Anti-Corruption System (SNA) has declared that it will soon announce a call for the appointment of a technical secretary for the Executive Secretariat of the National Anti-Corruption System (SESNA). The position has been vacant since February 2025 due to a previous failed agreement regarding the selection process. This development aims to address the ongoing gap in leadership and ensure the continuity of anti-corruption efforts within the country.
During an extraordinary session of the CPC, which is now chaired by Patricia Talavera since January 29, it was pointed out that the upcoming call will seek interested candidates for the crucial role of technical secretary. The session included the participation of only two members, Talavera and Rafael Martínez Puón, highlighting the current lack of full representation within the committee which ideally should have five members. This situation raises questions about the internal dynamics and effectiveness of the CPC in completing its mandates under the anti-corruption system.
As the CPC moves forward to fill this pivotal position, it faces the challenge of rebuilding trust and ensuring that the anti-corruption system functions effectively in Mexico. The selection of the technical secretary will be critical not only for the operational continuity of the SNA but also for public perception regarding the government's commitment to combat corruption. Stakeholders and citizens alike will be watching closely to see if this new recruitment effort will lead to a more robust and inclusive framework to tackle corruption in the nation.
