In a dramatic incident in Goiânia, a technical worker was rescued by firefighters after one of the rappel cables he was using snapped while he was at a height of approximately 130 meters. The situation unfolded on Tuesday afternoon in the Jardim Goiás area, where the public gathered to witness the rescue operation and filmed the events as they transpired. The worker found himself stuck on the 43rd floor, unable to ascend or descend due to the malfunctioning equipment.
Firefighters arrived promptly, deploying two specialized teams consisting of six personnel who set up a rappel system with secure anchor points to assist in the rescue. In footage captured by bystanders, the worker can be seen hanging precariously while trying to grasp another rope. After successfully securing himself with the equipment provided by the firefighters, he was eventually pulled to safety, being guided to a balcony area where the rescuers could safely retrieve him.
Fortunately, the firefighters reported that the worker sustained no injuries during this precarious situation, and the entire rescue operation lasted around 30 minutes. The firefighters emphasized the critical importance of adhering to safety regulations when performing such high-altitude work, highlighting the need for appropriate equipment and precautions to prevent such incidents from occurring in the future.
