Four people injured in crash after tree falls on MG-050 highway

Four individuals were injured in a car accident on MG-050 highway in Brazil after a tree fell on the road.

On the morning of October 10, a serious accident took place on the MG-050 highway in Passos, Brazil, when a tree fell onto the road, leading to a collision between two vehicles. The incident occurred during rain, creating hazardous conditions for drivers. A Fiorino vehicle was traveling towards Belo Horizonte when it suddenly encountered the fallen tree and attempted to swerve to avoid it. Unfortunately, this maneuver resulted in a collision with a Fiat Fastback coming from the opposite direction.

The impact of the crash caused the Fiat Fastback to veer off the road, injuring three occupants, one of whom suffered severe injuries that may include fractures. This individual, along with the injured driver of the Fiorino, was promptly transported to the Santa Casa of Passos for medical treatment. The situation underscores the dangers that can arise on roadways due to adverse weather conditions and unexpected obstacles like fallen trees.

Emergency services were swift to respond, with the Corpo de Bombeiros (Fire Department) removing the fallen tree from the roadway. The highway was cleared and reopened shortly after the incident, minimizing further disruptions for commuters. This accident highlights the need for ongoing maintenance and safety checks on roads, particularly during inclement weather, to prevent similar incidents in the future.
