Exhibition takes artworks to the streets and public spaces of Goiânia through QR codes
An exhibition of video artworks using QR codes to display artists' work has started taking place in the streets, squares, and other public spaces of Goiânia.
A new exhibition, titled "Memórias Cristalizadas," has launched in Goiânia, Brazil, featuring video artworks accessible through QR codes installed in various locations around the city. This initiative allows residents and visitors to easily engage with the artworks by scanning the codes with their mobile devices. The exhibition includes seven short video pieces, each approximately one minute long, which can be viewed for free, thus making art more accessible to the public.
The selected video pieces explore themes related to memory, tradition, and the landscapes of the Cerrado, incorporating elements such as dance, performance, and audiovisual storytelling. The organizers of the exhibition aim to provoke reflections on cultural belonging, societal transformations, and the relationship between humanity and nature. By situating the exhibition in everyday public spaces, the project invites a broader audience to experience and interact with contemporary art in an innovative way.
According to Vítor Oliveira Lopes e Silva, one of the project’s creators, the goal is to democratize access to art and distance it from the traditional confines of museums. This initiative not only brings art into the open but also seeks to forge deeper connections between the artworks and the daily lives of people in Goiânia, ultimately fostering a community dialogue around cultural identity and shared experiences.
