Drivers try to avoid accident, get involved in head-on collision on the shoulder, and three people die in Paraná

Three people died in a traffic accident on BR-369 in Cambará, northern Paraná, when their car collided head-on with another vehicle while trying to avoid a first collision.

On Tuesday morning, three individuals lost their lives in a tragic accident on the BR-369 highway in Cambará, located in northern Paraná. The Federal Highway Police (PRF) reported that the vehicle carrying the victims crashed into another car on the shoulder of the road while attempting to evade an initial collision. This chaotic scenario unfolded when a car entered the opposite lane to overtake improperly, leading to the eventual disaster as both drivers tried to avoid impact by maneuvering onto the shoulder.

The PRF's bulletin indicated that as the overtaking vehicle crossed into oncoming traffic, the 26-year-old driver noticed the victims’ car. Reactively, both drivers opted for the same evasive action, moving into the shoulder, which resulted in a head-on collision. The driver in the overtaking car was rescued by emergency teams from EPR, the concessionaire managing that road section, and transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Unfortunately, the three passengers in the victims' car did not survive the incident, having been pronounced dead at the scene. Additionally, two other individuals who were traveling with them were hospitalized in critical condition. The identities of those involved in this accident have not yet been released to the public as of the latest updates from the authorities.
