Horto Florestal of São Paulo celebrates 130 years with special programming
The Alberto Löfgren State Park, also known as the Horto Florestal, celebrates its 130th anniversary with a series of events organized by Urbia, culminating in a major celebration on October 22.
The Alberto Löfgren State Park, widely referred to as Horto Florestal, is celebrating its 130th anniversary on October 10 with various activities that highlight its rich history and cultural heritage. Managed by Urbia, the celebration includes a major event on October 22, featuring traditional festivities, free cake, and ice pops. Visitors are encouraged to participate by sharing their personal experiences of what the park means to them in a short video. Founded by Swedish botanist Alberto Löfgren, the park spans 186 hectares, comparable to 260 football fields, and is divided into four main visitation areas: Horto Florestal, Olaria, Polo Eco Cultural, and Arboreto Vila Amália. Recently designated as a cultural heritage site, the park has been under Urbia's management since 2022. The concessionaire has invested R$ 30 million in improved signage and the restructuring of facilities to enhance visitor experience. In addition to the anniversary of the park, the event coincidentally marks the seventh anniversary of the Trail Girls group, a community initiative that encourages women to engage with nature through outdoor activities. This dual celebration highlights not only the park's historical significance but also its role as a recreational space that empowers local communities, particularly women in outdoor pursuits. Through these events, the park reaffirms its commitment to celebrating biodiversity and fostering a sense of community among its visitors.
