KKV: Message to Customers of Askos and Sotkas
Indoor Group, the owner of Askos and Sotkas furniture stores, has filed for bankruptcy, leaving consumers uncertain about their purchases.
Indoor Group, which owns the Askos and Sotkas furniture stores as well as the Askos furniture factory Insofa, filed for bankruptcy on Monday at the Helsinki District Court. This filing has left many consumers who purchased furniture confused about the status of their orders and potential refunds. The Finnish Competition and Consumer Authority (KKV) has advised consumers to await further information regarding the situation instead of contacting their consumer advisory services, which cannot assist in bankruptcy cases.
KKV emphasized that consumers should closely monitor updates and familiarize themselves with guidelines about bankruptcy situations. They explained that bankruptcy proceedings commence when a debtor is declared bankrupt by a court decision, at which point the company loses the right to manage its assets, which are handled by a court-appointed trustee. As of now, no decision has been made regarding the bankruptcy declaration, leaving many questions unanswered for affected consumers.
The KKV has also stated that it will continue to provide updates regarding the bankruptcy, and consumers are encouraged to stay informed of any developments that may arise. The unfolding situation poses significant implications not only for the employees and management of Indoor Group but also for the broader furniture retail market in Finland as it adjusts to the potential loss of a key player in the industry.
