Huh Yong-joo was inaugurated as the new president of the Korea Association of Machinery Industry on the 10th, emphasizing the need for growth in the machinery industry amidst tough management realities.
Huh Yong-joo officially took office as the new president of the Korea Association of Machinery Industry on the 10th during a ceremony held at the FKI Tower in Yeouido, Seoul, with over 300 attendees from the machinery sector. He highlighted the importance of overcoming challenging management conditions and securing growth engines necessary for advancing the machinery industry. Huh also outlined his plans for his three-year term, which includes enhancing profitability for member companies, establishing AI-based infrastructure for the association, fostering communication and unity, training talent, promoting the association, and improving the organization's structure and operations.
During the ceremony, former president Cho In-ho delivered a farewell speech, reflecting on his term that lasted three years. He expressed pride in the achievements made during his tenure, which included revising registration standards for the machinery industry, increasing the bidding bottom line by two percentage points for the first time in over 20 years, improving unreasonable subcontract practices, and strengthening national publicity for the machinery sector. Cho conveyed that it was an honor to gather valuable experiences with the members during his presidency.
Huh's inauguration comes at a crucial time for the industry as it faces numerous challenges, and his commitment to modernizing the association through the introduction of AI and organizations' improvement could set the stage for a resurgence in the Korean machinery sector, complementing efforts made by his predecessor.
