Kanpur: Action taken on the death of a newborn in NICU, registration of Raja Nursing Home canceled

The Kanpur district administration has canceled the registration of Raja Nursing Home following the tragic death of a newborn due to a fire in the warmer machine inside the NICU.

In a tragic incident at Raja Nursing Home in Brahmanagar, Kanpur, a newborn girl died after a fire broke out in the warming machine within the NICU. This prompted the Kanpur district administration to take strict action, with District Magistrate Jitendra Pratap Singh commissioning an investigation into the matter. The probe revealed that the NICU was being operated without the necessary permissions, indicating serious regulatory violations by the hospital management.

The Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Haridatt Nemi, submitted the investigation report which confirmed that although the nursing home was registered, they had never obtained clearance to run the NICU unit. During inspections, it was also discovered that the fire safety equipment had expired, highlighting severe lapses in safety protocols. As a result of these findings, the unauthorized NICU unit was sealed on-site by the authorities.

Given the critical violations of operational norms observed during the inquiry, the registration of Raja Nursing Home (registration number RMEE2122829) has been canceled with immediate effect, and the establishment has been ordered to shut down. The management has been issued a notice to provide an explanation within three working days, with the warning of stringent legal actions if they fail to comply with the directives.
