Sale of 5-day-old newborn! Three arrested including the owner of the hospital
In Greater Noida West, three people, including the owner of a private hospital, were arrested for attempting to sell a 5-day-old newborn for 260,000 rupees.
A shocking incident has emerged from Greater Noida West, where an attempt to sell a 5-day-old newborn baby for 260,000 rupees was thwarted by the police. The situation came to light when an individual contacted the child helpline 1098, informing them that he was being asked for a large sum of money under the pretext of adopting a newborn. He had previously shared information related to adoption on social media, which led a nurse from a local private hospital to reach out to him, revealing the availability of the baby for a significant fee.
The Anti Human Trafficking Unit (AHTU), Child Welfare Committee (CWC), and police worked together to devise a plan for the operation in response to this serious allegation. With the assistance of the complainant, they prepared to catch the accused in the act. The nurse who was implicated in the case arranged a meeting with the potential buyer at Kulesra in the Ecotech-3 area to hand over the baby, where the operation was executed effectively, leading to the arrests.
This incident underscores the alarming issue of human trafficking and illegal adoption practices that pose serious threats to vulnerable populations. Authorities are now investigating the circumstances surrounding the case and are likely to enhance measures to combat such illegal activities in the future, especially in the backdrop of the continued struggles many face in accessing legal adoption processes.
