Kanpur: Nurse Forgot Newborn in Warmer Machine, Baby Dies from Burns

A nurse at a Kanpur hospital forgot a newborn in a warmer machine leading to her death from burns.

In a tragic incident at Raja Nursing Home in the Bithoor area of Kanpur, a newborn baby died after being left in a warming machine by hospital staff. The mother, Shalu, had given birth to a healthy baby girl on Sunday evening, and the nurses placed the baby in the warmer to protect her from the cold. However, the nursing staff forgot to monitor the machine, causing its temperature to rise excessively. This negligence led to severe burns on the infant's body, ultimately resulting in her death.

The incident changed the family's joy to grief, as they had been excited about the birth of the baby. The situation escalated when family members insisted on seeing the newborn and were initially denied entry by the nurses. Upon forcing their way into the ICU, they were horrified to discover the baby with severe burns on her head and arms. Following this shocking revelation, the hospital atmosphere turned chaotic as relatives protested against the staff's negligence. Amid the uproar, Dr. Vivek Mishra and the entire nursing staff fled the hospital, further aggravating the situation.

Local police were notified to control the situation after the family raised alarms about the negligence at Raja Nursing Home. DCP SM Qasim Abidi arrived on the scene to oversee the response, indicating that authorities are looking into the incident seriously. This tragic event highlights concerning issues related to hospital staff training, patient safety, and the need for better monitoring systems within medical facilities to prevent such negligence from occurring in the future.
