National Scholarships... Expansion of Support for Excellent Talent in Humanities and Social Sciences and Increase in Working Scholars
This year, the government is expanding support for students in humanities and social sciences and increasing the number of working scholarship recipients.
The South Korean Ministry of Education announced an expansion of national scholarship support for the humanities and social sciences, confirming a plan on the 11th for tailored national scholarship support through 2026. This year, the selection of recipients for the Humanities 100-year scholarship, which provides full tuition and living expenses, is increasing from 1,500 to 2,000 students, with no income restrictions, focusing on academic performance and capabilities as criteria for selection. Additionally, the number of working scholarship students is rising from 161,000 to 165,000, with slight increases in compensation aligned with the minimum wage set to be 10,320 KRW in 2026.
