SEP will allocate 140 billion pesos for Wellbeing Scholarships in 2026

In 2026, the Mexican government will invest over 140 billion pesos to support the Wellbeing Scholarships program benefiting approximately 22.8 million students.

The Mexican government, through the Secretariat of Public Education (SEP), has announced that it will allocate 140,389,658,900 pesos for the Wellbeing Scholarships program in 2026. This initiative aims to support 22.8 million students across primary, secondary, high school, and higher education levels. With such significant investment, the government emphasizes its commitment to enhancing educational opportunities and ensuring financial assistance to families in need.

Mario Delgado Carrillo, the head of the SEP, revealed that over one million new secondary students have already received the Universal Scholarship card named after Rita Cetina. Each of these families will receive support of 1,900 pesos, and an additional 700 pesos for each additional student enrolled in secondary school. This financial assistance is intended to help alleviate the economic burden on families regarding educational expenses.

Furthermore, since February 3, the National Coordination of Wellbeing Scholarships (CNBB) has been conducting informational assemblies in public primary schools nationwide. This outreach aims to include an additional 8,417,182 children from first to sixth grade, offering them support for school supplies and uniforms. Through these initiatives, the government is working to ensure that educational resources are accessible to all children, promoting a more equitable educational system in Mexico.
