Foundation to train 1,000 autism caregivers through cycling

The Kanyeyachukwu Autism Foundation will train 1,000 autism caregivers through a cycling expedition from Enugu to Lagos to raise awareness of autism.

The Kanyeyachukwu Autism Foundation has announced an initiative aimed at training at least 1,000 caregivers and nurses for individuals with autism through a unique interstate cycling excursion. This event will not only provide essential training but also serve as a platform for raising awareness about autism across Nigeria. The expedition, which will begin in Enugu State and conclude in Lagos State, is set to take place on April 2, coinciding with World Autism Awareness Day.

Led by Kanyeyachukwu Tagbo-Okeke, a Guinness World Record holder and an autistic individual, the cycling journey aims to mobilize communities and institutions to gain a deeper understanding and acceptance of autism. The campaign is designed to educate the public and encourage practical support for people on the autism spectrum. By leveraging this expedition, the foundation intends to promote a national dialogue on autism and enhance the societal perception of individuals living with this condition.

Additionally, this initiative joins forces with Spark a Spectrum, a prominent autism advocacy organization based in the USA, to organize what is envisioned to be the largest World Autism Awareness Day celebration. The collaboration seeks to amplify the campaign’s reach and impact, providing a platform for discussions on autism and highlighting the crucial need for improved care and support systems in Nigeria.
