The 20th Nigeria Oil and Gas Industry Games (NOGIG) commenced on Monday at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja, featuring competitors from major oil and gas companies. In the opening matches of volleyball, NNPC secured a strong victory over Oando with a score of 2-0, while TotalEnergies mirrored this success by defeating PTI, also 2-0. These victories set a competitive tone for the week-long event, attracting 1,200 athletes from 15 companies across 13 different sports disciplines.

In addition to volleyball, table tennis also showcased exciting matches on the first day of competition. Aradel triumphed over NLNG in a closely contested match, while other notable victories included NUPRC overcoming Shell and NMDPRA besting ExxonMobil in volleyball. The games serve not only as a platform for sportsmanship but also foster relationships among participating companies in the oil and gas sector.

The NOGIG is particularly significant as it fosters camaraderie and competition among leading firms in Nigeria's oil and gas industry.
