NABTEB: Construction, engineering lead pass rates as business trades lag
The NABTEB results show that construction and engineering trades outperformed business trades in the November/December 2025 examinations in Nigeria.
The National Business and Technical Examinations Board (NABTEB) has released results from the November/December 2025 examinations, revealing that a total of 34,060 candidates achieved credit passes in English Language and Mathematics. The examination saw the registration of 61,591 candidates across various trades, with a notable focus on construction and engineering disciplines. NABTEBβs Registrar, Dr. Mohammed Mohammed, provided insights from the results announcement in Benin City, Edo State, highlighting the enrollment numbers and diversity of trades assessed.
The analysis of pass rates indicates a significant achievement for the Construction Trades, which led with an impressive 79.32 percent pass rate. Candidates exhibited a strong preference for Bricklaying and Blocklaying, suggesting a growing interest in hands-on skills that are highly relevant to Nigeriaβs infrastructure needs. Similarly, Engineering Trades recorded a commendable 76.84 percent pass rate, particularly in Electrical Installation and Maintenance Works, reflecting a solid foundation in technical skills essential for modern industry.
Conversely, Business Trades were reported to lag behind, raising concerns about the effectiveness and appeal of business-related training offered. This disparity in performance could prompt educational stakeholders to reevaluate curriculum and teaching methods in business disciplines to enhance engagement and outcomes among candidates. The results underscore the necessity for strategic initiatives in technical education, potentially driving policy changes aimed at improving performance across all trade areas.
