Ricardo Nunes downplays commotion among revelers on Consolação street

São Paulo's mayor, Ricardo Nunes, downplayed the incidents during the Carnaval festivities, asserting no serious issues arose despite large crowds.

On February 9, during the Carnaval celebrations in São Paulo, Mayor Ricardo Nunes addressed the commotion that erupted among revelers on Consolação street. The mayor emphasized that the incidents, which occurred during performances by two large Carnaval blocks, were not as severe as reported. He pointed out that the two blocks, Acadêmicos do Baixo Augusta and DJ Calvin Harris's performance, did not overlap in schedule, and any crowding was handled responsibly.

Nunes explained that the city made efforts to ensure the safety of participants, delaying the departure of the Baixo Augusta block until the conclusion of the Skol block featuring Calvin Harris. He expressed his belief that the festive atmosphere of Carnaval would continue unhindered, thanks to the planning and collaboration between city officials and military police, who managed the large influx of attendees efficiently.

Despite concerns regarding safety from the presence of multiple blocks on the same street, the mayor remained optimistic, asserting that this year's Carnaval would be the largest in the country’s history. His reassurances reflect an effort to bolster public confidence in the organization of such large-scale events, aiming to highlight the successful management of festivities even amid challenges.
