Ice Dance duo Lim Hae-na & Kwon Ye conclude rhythm dance with 22nd place... 'Disappointed but happy'

Korean ice dance pair Lim Hae-na and Kwon Ye finished 22nd in the rhythm dance event at the 2026 Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics, missing their chance to qualify for the free dance.

In the rhythm dance event held in Milan, Italy, Korean ice dance pair Lim Hae-na and Kwon Ye ranked 22nd out of 23 teams, falling short of the qualification cutoff for the free dance which required at least a 20th place finish. They managed a technical score of 34.28 and an artistic score of 30.41, summing to a total of 64.69 points. This result marked a disappointing end to their Olympic journey, as they were unable to advance despite their hopes of performing in the free dance segment.

Competing 12th in the event, the duo skated to Will Smith's 'Men in Black,' but their performance was marred by an early mistake in their first element, the sequential twizzle, where Kwon Ye faltered during her turn. The misstep contributed to their overall score, and following their routine, Kwon Ye expressed disappointment at the lower scores, feeling a sense of defeat after the effort they put into their performance.

After the competition, Lim Hae-na shared her mixed feelings, expressing happiness despite the disappointment, stating, "I received so much energy from the event, and I’m satisfied with how we performed our dance." Kwon Ye noted the nerves may have contributed to their errors and stressed that they gave their best throughout the rest of the program, reflecting on the emotional experience of reaching the Olympics and expressing gratitude for the opportunity to compete.
