Governor Alfonso Durazo is modernizing public transportation in Sonora with an investment of over 616 million pesos, adding 420 new units and implementing advanced technology for better service and safety.
Governor Alfonso Durazo MontaΓ±o of Sonora has initiated a comprehensive public transportation modernization strategy since taking office, which includes the addition of 420 new units and an investment exceeding 616 million pesos. This initiative aims to enhance urban mobility in the state by improving the public transportation system significantly. Alongside vehicle upgrades, an advanced credentialing system has been introduced to enhance safety and streamline operations, ensuring that discounts are available for students, seniors, and individuals with disabilities.
The new transportation units are equipped with air conditioning, surveillance cameras, and electronic validators, directly addressing the quality of service and safety for riders. This modernization effort has been particularly focused on the 15 municipalities with the highest demand for public transportation, including Hermosillo, Cajeme, Navojoa, Guaymas, San Luis RΓo Colorado, and Nogales. The improvement in these areas is expected to significantly impact daily mobility for thousands of residents, making public transport a more viable option for commuting.
As these projects unfold, the state government aims to create a more efficient and accessible transport system, responding to the growing needs of urban populations across Sonora.
