Motorcycles by order and robberies on highways: a mega gang of motorcycle thieves accused of 140 cases in the City and GBA

A significant gang of motorcycle robbers operating in Buenos Aires and its metropolitan area was apprehended, facing accusations for 140 theft cases, with operations revealing extensive criminal logistics.

A major motorcycle robbery gang operating in Buenos Aires and Greater Buenos Aires has been apprehended, following a series of investigative operations that uncovered their extensive criminal logistics. The crackdown was sparked by a prior incident involving the theft of a motorcycle from an owner, who was threatened with a weapon. Authorities traced the robbery back to the gang through a recovered cell phone, which became crucial evidence in the subsequent investigations.

Despite previous operations resulting in 27 arrests back in June, the gang continued its criminal activities unhindered. Among the many incidents attributed to them is a notable robbery that occurred on December 30th on the Riccheri Highway, where six members of the gang assaulted a 63-year-old motorcyclist named Guillermo, capturing the violent encounter on video that later went viral. This incident underscored the gang's brazen tactics and the increasing public awareness and concern surrounding such motorcycle-related crimes in the capital.

In a recent operation this past weekend, law enforcement executed 65 search warrants ordered by Juvenile Judge Carlos Cocia, which led to substantial developments in the case. The police's ongoing efforts and strategic raids highlight their commitment to tackling organized crime in the region, though the persistence of such gangs raises questions about long-term solutions to motorcycle theft and public safety on the highways.
