On Monday night, train services on the Kiatо - Piraeus railway line were temporarily halted due to a fire in Aspropyrgos, as confirmed by Hellenic Train. The disruption occurred from 20:59 to 21:26 and was ordered by the Fire Service and the Infrastructure Manager OSE – Hellenic Railways. As a result, several trains experienced significant delays including Train 2300 which carried 140 passengers and was delayed by 26 minutes, and Train 1329 with 110 passengers which faced a 54-minute delay at the Aspropyrgos station.
The company Hellenic Train indicated that there could be further delays and cancellations on the Kiatо - Piraeus line as a result of this incident. The affected trains were stranded at various stations, including the 2301 train which was held at Megara with 50 passengers on board and experienced a 4-minute delay. The ongoing situation highlights the responsiveness of transportation authorities in addressing emergency situations while also impacting the schedule of daily commuters reliant on this route.
