Firefighters search for 29-year-old man missing in quarry in Greater Curitiba

Firefighters are conducting searches for Bruno César Fernandes de Almeida, 29, who went missing in a quarry near Curitiba.

The Corpo de Bombeiros (Fire Department) is actively searching for Bruno César Fernandes de Almeida, a 29-year-old man who went missing on Saturday morning in Campo Magro, located in the Metropolitan Region of Curitiba. According to his family, Bruno left his home on a bicycle and sent a photo and video to his sister just before he stopped responding to messages. He was said to have headed towards the Pedreira do Orleans, which features a lake in the area.

Emergency services, including the Tactical Rescue Operations Group (Gost), were alerted around noon on Sunday, with search operations commencing shortly after. The team began scouring nearby trails and the region's access points, interviewing potential witnesses to gather more information about Bruno’s whereabouts. By Monday, the search efforts expanded to include divers and a thermal drone, indicating concern for his safety, especially considering he was last seen near water.

Witnesses have claimed to have seen Bruno swimming in the lake just before he vanished, which raises additional concerns regarding the potential dangers he may have faced in the water. As rescue operations continue, the local community remains hopeful for his safe return, but the authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward to assist in the search effort.
