The Powerfully Leaping 18-Year-Old Ski Jumper Vagul Outperformed Three Olympic Champions in Training
18-year-old Kaimar Vagul impressively outperformed three Olympic champions during ski jumping training at the Milano Cortina Olympics.
At the Milano Cortina Olympics, the ski jumping training for the men's normal hill event (HS 107) commenced, showcasing the talent of 18-year-old Kaimar Vagul. In the first round, Vagul achieved a jump of 92 meters, earning 50.7 points, which placed him 36th amongst 49 competitors. The round was dominated by German athlete Philipp Raimund, who landed a 100-meter jump for a score of 75.3 points.
In the second round, Vagul's performance significantly improved as he jumped 97.5 meters and scored 72.1 points, elevating his rank to 18th place. Notably, he outperformed three Olympic champions: Ryoyu Kobayashi, Stefan Kraft, and Kamil Stoch, who have won multiple Olympic gold medals. The best jumps in this round were also registered by Raimund and Austrian Stephan Embacher, both earning 81.3 points.
During the final third round of training, Vagul finished 31st with a jump of 97 meters, scoring 70.3 points. The main competition for the normal hill event is scheduled to begin today at 20:00, wherein Vagul will compete, representing Estonia.
