180 cattle died in flames in Kouvola – police do not suspect a crime

A devastating barn fire in Kouvola resulted in the death of 180 cattle, with police stating there is no indication of foul play.

A barn fire occurred early Sunday morning in Muhniemi, Kouvola, Finland, where unfortunately 180 cattle perished as a result. The police are conducting an investigation into the causes of the fire in collaboration with the local rescue department, though they currently believe it was not caused by criminal activity or negligence. The barn, which had a steel framework, was observed to be fully engulfed in flames by the time emergency services arrived on the scene.

The owner alerted authorities on Sunday morning, but by the time the Kymenlaakso rescue units responded, there was little that could be done to save the animals or the structure. Their primary focus became preventing the fire from spreading to nearby buildings, particularly to another barn located close by, which was successfully protected from the fire's reach. No injuries to people were reported as a result of this tragic incident.

In addition to the barn fire, police have also announced they are investigating another fire incident that occurred on Saturday at an outbuilding in Kouvola, indicating a broader concern over fire safety and incidents within the area.
