Authorities have uncovered a significant fake medicine operation in Ghaziabad, seizing 50,000 counterfeit Liv-52 liver tablets and arresting five suspects involved in the illegal trade.
In a major crackdown on counterfeit medicines, the police in Ghaziabad's Muradnagar area have raided a facility producing fake Liv-52 tablets, a medication used for liver diseases. This operation, carried out by the SWAT team in collaboration with local police, resulted in the seizure of a substantial stock of counterfeit tablets. Five individuals were apprehended during the operation, who have reportedly been involved in supplying fake medications to the market for a long time.
The investigation was initiated after a complaint from a reputed pharmaceutical company, which alerted the authorities about the counterfeit production of Liv-52 tablets. The company asserted that these fake tablets were being manufactured with bogus documentation, including false GST numbers and unauthorized licenses, and sold in the market, posing a significant health risk to the public. The counterfeit medicines were allegedly being transported to various locations and cities, further endangering the health of unsuspecting consumers.
