Ex-NDA registrar hails Edo’s strategic leadership retreat
A former Registrar of the Nigeria Defence Academy praised a leadership retreat in Edo State aimed at improving governance and service delivery.
General Cecil Esekhaigbe (retd.), a former Registrar of the Nigeria Defence Academy, emphasized the importance of a recent leadership retreat for government officials in Edo State. He stated that the retreat, conceptualized by Governor Monday Okpebholo, aims to address governance gaps and enhance service delivery throughout the state. As a resource person at the event, he highlighted the need for improved communication among officials to facilitate better working relationships among the ranks of permanent secretaries and departmental heads.
Esekhaigbe pointed out that a clear delineation of roles is essential in governance, allowing each official to understand their individual responsibilities. This initiative seeks to foster a culture of accountability and ensures that public servants are equipped to meet their obligations effectively. The retreat, held in Udomi, Esan Central Local Government Area, marks a proactive step by the Edo State government in refining the effectiveness of its administration.
The implications of such initiatives are significant, as they can lead to improved service delivery for citizens and greater transparency in governance. By addressing these foundational issues within the local government structure, the Edo State administration hopes to create a more responsive and effective leadership paradigm, which could set a positive precedent for other states in Nigeria.
