Edo governor approves revenue sector reshuffle

The governor of Edo State has made changes to key officials in the revenue sector to improve revenue generation efforts.

Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, has initiated a reshuffle within the state’s revenue sector to enhance its capability in generating revenue. This change was made public through a statement from Umar Ikhilor, the Secretary to the State Government. Notably, Odior Osirenimhe, previously the Chairman of the Edo State Audit Service Commission, has been appointed as the new Chairman of the Edo State Internal Revenue Service. This shift follows the resignation of the former chairman, Oladele Bankole-Balogun, who stepped down to focus on his upcoming electoral ambitions.

In addition to the shift in leadership, the reassignment of Idiake Patrick Akhimien, an Executive Director at the Edo State Internal Revenue Service, to the position of Chairman of the Edo State Audit Service Commission has also been announced. This rearrangement indicates a strategic effort by the governor to bolster the revenue-generating capabilities of the state amidst ongoing fiscal challenges. By appointing experienced officials to these key positions, the government aims to reinforce its revenue drive effectively.

These changes reflect the governor’s commitment to enhancing the efficiency of the state's revenue sector, particularly as Edo State seeks to address financial constraints and ensure sustainable economic growth. Strengthening the revenue base is crucial not only for maintaining essential public services but also for attracting further investment and fostering development within the state.
